If your mother passed away a couple months ago and you chose to have her cremated, but did not hold a memorial service or do anything extra special to honor her life at the time because you were grieving and unsure of how to handle the situation, it is not too late to celebrate your mother's life and you can do so by following the advice below. As a result of your efforts, you may feel at peace and come to terms with your mother's death, which will allow you to move on with your life.

Hold A Private Ceremony On Your Property

Pick a section of your property that is secluded and place a chair in the area. Think about what your mother liked and try to add some details to the ceremony that are reminiscent of her life. For instance, if she enjoyed music or movies, incorporate those details in her ceremony by playing a song or watching footage of a movie that your mom liked.

Sit down in the chair and hold onto your mom's urn and try to focus on her life while you think about past memories. Afterward, bring the urn back into your home and set it down on a dresser or shelf that you have designated to be a spot for it to be displayed.

Purchase A Piece Of Jewelry That Has An Urn Attached

Contact a jeweler in your town and ask them if they sell pieces of jewelry that are designed to hold small urns. With this type of jewelry a necklace, bracelet, or anklet can have a small piece added that can be used to hold some of your mom's ashes. If a jewelry store can accommodate your request, visit the establishment in person and try on several pieces of jewelry until you find one that you are thoroughly satisfied with.

After a small urn is added to the jewelry and your mom's ashes are added to the urn, you will feel close to your mom whenever you wear your new piece of jewelry. Your mom's remaining ashes can be held in her urn and you can her urn in a special area in your home.

Try to think of your mom often and prepare a ceremony for her each year. Reflect upon the past during each ceremony and take notes if you wish, in order to help you deal with the situation at hand.
